With ever increasing awareness of environmental changes, we feel strongly that big
change will only occur if everyone will do small things that are achievable without
government or big business interference. One energy saving light bulb, one less
monster SUV on the road, one less hamburger stuffed at lunch time or one less bucket
of water used can go a long way if only we all start doing it. To help reduce water
usage at our gardens we have put together a page with perennials that use less of this
precious commodity to thrive in city conditions. All plants require supplemental water
for the first growing season. Do not allow newly planted perennials to dry out.
Depending on seasonal rainfall, water your garden deeply every one to two weeks.
To see a complete description for each perennial, simply click its name.
Most of the ornamental grasses and large portion of groundcovers could also be
added to this list as well. Please check the pages dedicated to these versatile groups
of plants.
